KNOXVILLE NATIVE NIKKI ESTRIDGE WINS INTERNATIONAL AWARDS FOR COMEDY SHORT
The awards put Estridge in company with some of the industry’s best

Knoxville, TN. SEPT 24, 2020 – Knoxville native Nikki Estridge, writer, director and SAG-AFTRA actor, has won two prestigious Best of Show “Awards of Recognition” from *The Best Shorts Film Competition. The Film Short and Comedy Program/Series awards were won for Estridge’s comedy short, Don’t Make It Awkward, in which she showcases the awkwardness of visiting one’s OB/GYN by performing as various characters.

The wins put Estridge in company with other high-profile and highly respected production companies, such as Disney Interactive (which won for the 2014 short film Vinlymation: A Love Story) and noted producer Laurent Witz of Luxembourg (for his 2013 Oscar-winning production Mr. Hublot), among others.

With entries from around the world, the Best Shorts Competition is extremely competitive. Says Awards Chair, Rick Prickett: “Entries are received from around the world from powerhouse companies to remarkable new talent. The Best Shorts Competition helps set the standard for craft and creativity. The judges were pleased with the exceptional high quality of entries.

Written initially as a quick clip for social media, Estridge decided to expound on the concept once she “realized my concept deserved much more than a 60-second social media clip.” It proved to be a learning experience as she admits, “As an actor always being in front of the camera, I now have an even greater appreciation for the skill sets and energy that goes into writing and directing.”

Estridge is no stranger to rising above challenges. A devoted wife and mother of two young children, she most recently learned that her biological father is actor Cylk Cozart, and has since enjoyed establishing a relationship with him and her ‘new’ siblings. It’s proven to be a most rewarding experience.

Nikki Estridge has appeared in several TV and film projects (Amazon/Amazon Prime’s Thespian; Netflix’s House of Cards; NBC’s Law and Order: SVU; and more) and can be found on Instagram @NikkiEstridgeOfficial, on TikTok @NikkiEstridgeOfficial, and through her IMDb page at imdb.me/NikkiEstridge.

*The Best Shorts Competition recognizes film, television, videography and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity and those who produce standout entertainment.
